Hello Prairie Builders!

As the Holiday season approaches, it’s time to start thinking about Creations for Charity!

For those who are unaware, Creations for Charity is an online fundraiser where builders like you and me donate MOC’s to be sold through Bricklink. Money raised is used to purchase brand new LEGO sets which are donated to kids for the holidays! Last year, $18,600 worth of LEGO was donated in eight locations such as Toronto (Canada), Colorado Springs (USA), Budapest (Hungary), Wollongong (Australia) and Vila Vehla (Brazil). Check out the website here:

Personally, I have donated items for sale for the past three years. It is a very rewarding experience to have your MOC purchased (“Somebody likes it!”) and see the funds used to help kids enjoy the hobby we all enjoy!

This year, I have been asked to be a coordinator for the charity. This means that some of the funds raised will be given to the Regina-land area to purchase sets. This is pretty exciting as now we’ll get to see firsthand the results of such a great program!

I would highly encourage everyone in our community of Prairie builders to:

A) Consider donating a MOC or two to the Bricklink page. They’ll start accepting donations in about a month or so. It’s an easy thing to do, and it’s very cool to have your build being appreciated somewhere in the world. I sent one to Australia last year!

B) Consider purchasing a MOC or 2 off the Bricklink page when the store opens up. There are some amazing builds up for sale each year, often from some very well-known builders. You may look at the prices and say “man, that seems like a lot”, but remember, each builder is a unique artist and the money is going to a great cause.

Thanks for considering the program this year. It’s not only appreciated by me, but also by the number of kids who will be given bricks this year!

A quick report posted on the C4C website about the donations I was able to make this year:

If you built, bought or donated, thank you!
