Stadium Build
Bringing the conversation from the old forum and onto this one, here's the atatus of the project so far:
- Scott, Trevor, Dave and Andre have all expressed interest in heading the project
- Wes has had sit-down meetings with the companies invovled with the construction of the building itself with positive results
- one of the main businesses would like a copy of the build for their head office in Minnesota, so that means building two
- LEGO provides a program for the acquiring of the vast amounts of bricks required for the project. This is a LUGbulk-style process which has a 1-3 month processing time (allow for 3 month)

Re: Stadium Build
Cool, well if they want a copy, then I am guessing they are going to help with the bill

Oh yes! Wes has been working his magic and getting all the people in place to help make this happen. Now we just have to:
- plan it
- figure out what we need
- order it
- get the money in place
- sort the bricks
- build the pieces
- rebuild the pieces
- add some of our own stuff that we didn't think about
- rebuild it again
- make a table for it
- rebuild it again
- finish it up
- do it a second time
... easy peasy.
Re: Stadium Build
I had a brief chat with Trent about a few things. PCL might not get plans for quite some time yet.
Re: Stadium Build
Yeah - just in terms of final design - as Wes mentioned, we will have to wait to see what it will look like. It may not look entirely like the renders.
So what we can do is start looking at general scale. The field is a slam dunk - we know what that will look like. So once we know the scale of the field, we can build that for sure. We can also start experimenting with some curves for the outside to see what that would look like.
Excited!

Update:
Had a quick chat with Wes last night. He was going to call the people with the designs for a sit-down meeting sometime soon to get the copies and the 3D walk-through of the final product that we can based our model on.
Hopefully this will speed things up and get us going for a Spring / Summer start date.

Re: Stadium Build
I am waiting for meetings with "PCL" and the lady from Mosaic. They all seem to be slow in getting back to me to set up sit down times to discuss our plans for the build.

I would love to tag a long if I could.

Update coming next Wednesday (June 17th) @ Tim's!
p.s. That's Tim's house, not Tim Horton's
p.p.s. Although, a stop at Tim Horton's might not be a bad idea beforehand...
p.p.p.s. But, I won't be able to make it either way, so it's neither here nor there...
p.p.p.p.s. Maybe I'll stop there today instead.
p.p.p.p.p.s. Mmm... Iced Cap...

Re: Stadium Build
Some good discussion and playing around last Thursday night in regards to the build. I left early, so I'd have to leave it to someone else for a full fill-in of the process.
Re: Stadium Build
You didn't miss a great deal Adam - we basically came up with a new design for the seating sections and a possible way to curve them using wedge plates. Scott has mocked up a bit more and it looks viable. The other thing we did was work on roof trusses. Jim made a prototype using liftarms which looks viable - every length of liftarm is available in white, which is good. The only question is whether the liftarm technique is to scale. Something to look at next time.
