SLUG in the UK

There is a LUG in Sheffield, England.  They go by the acronym SLUG.

It's a long shot... but you never know.

In all seriousness, I've thought about reaching out the to other SLUG of the world to establish a connection with them. Maybe a pen-pal (MOCpal) sort of thing.

I tried to do the same with GardenSLUG, a LUG in New Jersey, but they never contacted me back.

So... I've made contact with the group through Kevin Hyatt, their LUG Ambassador, via the Facebook. He's going to talk with his people, I'll chat with those on our side... we'll see what we can come up with.

The idea would be as follows:

1) A local SLUGger (ex: Adam) would be partnered up with someone in the Sheffield group (ex: Kevin).

2. Adam would start things off by sending Kevin a note telling more about himself, as well as a little MOC (somewhere between 100-200 pieces). The MOC would be representative of something Adam enjoys building, perhaps with some interesting techniques that he like to use or whatnot.

3. Kevin would respond with his own note and MOC.

4. This could continue back and forth as the pairing likes, perhaps issuing a challenge of something to build or who knows.

The overall idea is to connect with people in another LUG, seeing what they like to put together and maybe even learning a few things from them. It might not be for everyone, but it's worth a try, and why not do so with a group that shares our acronym.

I've asked Kevin to discuss the idea with his group, so we'll see what they think of the idea.
