RPL Geek Summit

Post by adamsonofwilliam on Sun Aug 30, 2015 2:36 pm

SLUG has been invited to the Regina Public Library's Geek Summit again this year!

This event brings a number of 'fringe' hobbies to one place in an effort to present them to a more mainstream audience. This will be our third appearance a the show with a similar-sized set-up. Do note that given our likely limited size and the number of people planning on taking part in the show you may not be able to bring and display all of your intended pieces, please make room for everyone.

At the show we will also be hosting our 13th SLUG Challenge. This tri-annual challenge tests the skills and imaginations of participation members to build something within a set theme to be voted on by the viewing pubic. The 13th SLUG Challenge is... Monster Mash:

Choose a set from past or present (with a piece count of no more than 300 for space reasons please) and Monsterfiy it! Take that Pizzeria (http://brickset.com/sets/6350-1/Pizza-To-Go) and make is ghoulish! Turn that Service Truck (http://brickset.com/sets/60073-1/Service-Truck) into hell on wheels! This challenge has been inspired by a) it being held 1 week before Halloween, b) the newest series of Collectible Minifigs, c) it's our 13th challenge (spooky!!!) and d) Waylon thought of the name and it was too good to pass up. Please make sure that you have an image of the original set that you took your inspiration from beside your creation so that the public can see the comparison.
