I would like to know how he does the top of that second column. Too bad they were not to the right scale as they have nice detail at the top

nevermind Chris, I thought he explained the top in the video.
It's cheese slopes attached to modified plates with a clip (bricklink #6019) and then they are attached to a Plate, Modified 2 x 2 with Bar Frame Octagonal, Reinforced, Completely Round Studs, (bricklink # 75937).
If that makes sense.
